Winter Wrenching
As winter tightens its grip on New York, our bikes may be tucked away, but that doesn’t mean the riding spirit is gone. If anything, the lull between snowstorms becomes the perfect excuse to roll up our sleeves, hit the garage floor, and put in some meaningful miles with a wrench instead of on the road.
This past month, Nick brought some serious illumination to his ride by swapping out his stock headlight for a Baja Designs DOT LP6 LED Headlight. A sleek, powerful upgrade that’s equal parts form and function. The LP6 LED touts integrated low and high beam functionality and its rugged construction means it’s ready for whatever the road throws your way. You can check out all the nuts and bolts at Baja Designs if you’re curious about the specs.
But beyond the parts and upgrades, there’s something almost meditative about winter wrenching. While snow piles up outside and the thermometer dips, we find ourselves leaning into projects we’ve been meaning to tackle, revisiting old favorites, and dreaming about the first ride of spring. There’s satisfaction in tuning, fixing, upgrading, and prepping. A kind of mechanical meditation that keeps the riding itch satisfied until the roads thaw and the world turns green again.
Nick has plans to swap out his exhaust in the next few weeks as well. So what are you working on this winter? Suspension tweaks? Tire swaps? Maybe a fresh coat of paint on those old panniers? Drop us a line or share a photo. We’d love to see how you’re making the most of the offseason.
Here’s to brighter headlights and warmer days ahead!
