The Calm Before the Throttle

Our bikes might be tucked away, but as the first whispers of spring swirl in the air, Open Heart Outlaws has been deep in planning mode. We believe that strong seasons are built in quiet ones. Winter is where we refine the mission, strengthen relationships, and ask the big questions: How can we serve better? How can we make this year count? The connections and events that feel effortless during the riding season are forged in conversations happening right now.

As the weather turns and engines fire back to life, our affiliate riders will have several planned rides to look forward to this spring and summer. These rides are about more than miles. We’re intentionally planning rides that allow affiliates to connect, both with the road and each other. Whether it’s a scenic day ride, an event, or a community appearance, each ride is an opportunity to live out what Open Heart Outlaws stands for. Currently we have two confirmed rides, and several more are on the docket, with details coming soon. If you’ve been considering becoming more involved as an affiliate rider, this upcoming season is the perfect time.

We’ll also be attending and hosting several events designed for those who want to get involved through donating, volunteering, or simply learning more. We’re excited to share that Open Heart Outlaws will be part of the grand opening celebration at Bidleman Harley-Davidson this spring. Bidleman has graciously provided a dedicated section inside the dealership featuring Open Heart Outlaws information. Having space inside a local Harley dealership creates visibility, accessibility, and opportunity for new riders to connect with what we’re building and we would love to see you there. Stay tuned for more information and exact dates.

Our annual Open Heart Outlaws fundraiser is returning to Three Heads Brewing, and planning is already underway. This event is a cornerstone of our year, and it’s going to be bigger than ever. You can expect live music, prizes, and a room full of riders, families, and supporters rallying behind the mission. This event will be taking place in August, so be on the lookout for more details! Toward the end of the season, we’ll be hosting another “Thank You” event - complete with the now legendary couch burn. It’s our way of closing out the riding season together with a little chaos and a whole lot of appreciation for the riders and supporters who make this community what it is. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this.

Winter has a way of forcing stillness on us. And if we let it, that stillness can become something steady and grounding. There’s something almost meditative about this season. The roads are quiet, the air is sharp, and the pace slows just enough to think clearly. Planning in winter feels intentional. It’s where ideas get refined, where vision replaces impulse, where we trade throttle for thought. Instead of chasing the next mile, we’re shaping the next chapter. There’s excitement knowing that in every mapped route, scheduled event, and late night conversation is a spark waiting for warmer weather. Winter stops us from riding, but it doesn’t stop the mission. If anything, it strengthens it.

Stay tuned. Stay ready. Spring is closer than it feels.
